On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, PIDS ENGHIEN<\/a>\u2014France\u2019s leading event for VFX and CGI\u2014brought long-overdue attention to one of the most essential yet invisible crafts in filmmaking: Digital Matte Painting (DMP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a standout roundtable moderated by R\u00e9jane Vall\u00e9e, three industry experts\u2014Jean-Marie Viv\u00e8s, Christophe \u00ab\u00a0Tchook\u00a0\u00bb Courgeau, and No\u00e9mie Cauvin<\/a>, Head of DMP and Visual Development at The Yard\u2014shared their experiences across decades of film and series production.<\/p>\n

From the early days of hand-painted glass shots to today\u2019s integration of 2D, 3D, and AI-assisted workflows, the discussion traced the evolution of DMP, the challenges of crafting believable environments, and the critical balance between artistry and technology.<\/p>\n
