The 2025 Genie Awards ceremony was a night to remember, honoring the exceptional talents in French digital creation. Hosted as part of PIDS Enghien, this prestigious event brought together some of the most brilliant professionals in the industry—from VFX supervisors and digital artists to innovators and legends of special effects.

Since their inception in 2015, the Digital Creation GENIE Awards have recognized outstanding contributions to the field of digital creation, celebrating artistic and technical achievements that push the boundaries of visual storytelling. This year’s edition was no exception, with an unforgettable evening filled with inspiring moments, well-deserved accolades, and a deep appreciation for the art of VFX.

Honoring Legends: Michael Pangrazio and Roxane Fechner

A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of two industry icons. Michael Pangrazio, a legendary artistic director known for his matte paintings in « Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back », « Raiders of the Lost Ark », and « E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial », received the GENIE Visionary Award for his lasting contributions to digital creation. A longtime collaborator of Spielberg and Jackson, Pangrazio continues to inspire artists worldwide.

Roxane Fechner was honored with the GENIE d’Honneur for her outstanding career in VFX supervision and production. With over 45 films to her credit, she has championed the role of VFX in French cinema and advocated for gender equality in the industry, setting a new standard of excellence.

Recognizing France’s rising influence in VFX

The GENIE Awards showcase the growing impact of French VFX studios on both national and international productions. From blockbuster streaming series to acclaimed films, the competition highlights the increasing quality and competitiveness of French visual effects. As noted by Yann Marchet, General Delegate of PIDS Enghien, nominations now include major international productions such as The Walking Dead and The Rings of Power, alongside high-caliber French films like The Count of Monte Cristo, Emilia Perez, and The Substance, some of which have received recognition at global ceremonies like the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

Celebrating The Yard’s talent

The Yard had an extraordinary night, taking home two prestigious awards for our work on The Lord of the Rings : The Rings of Power – Season 2. This incredible milestone is a testament to the talent, hard work, and dedication of our teams, who continue to push the limits of what’s possible in visual effects.
