The France-based VFX studio The Yard will participate in two conferences at FMX 2025, showcasing their award-winning work on "The Rings of Power - Season 2" and sharing perspectives on the global VFX industry.

Spring in Stuttgart can mean only one thing for the world of animation, visual effects, and immersive media: FMX is back !

From May 6–9, Europe’s most important conference for Animation, VFX, Interactive and Immersive Media returns for its highly anticipated 2025 edition — once again turning the heart of Stuttgart into a vibrant hub of creativity, innovation, and global connection. Each year, the event draws world-class talent — from Oscar-winning visionaries to rising stars — all eager to share their work, exchange ideas, and explore what’s next for our industry.

This year’s theme, « Rhythm of Change, » couldn’t be more timely. As new technologies disrupt workflows and redefine creative possibilities, the question becomes: how do we adapt without losing the human touch? FMX 2025 dives deep into this question — and we’re thrilled to be part of that conversation.

The Yard at FMX 2025

We’re excited to contribute to this year’s program with two engaging sessions that reflect the depth and creativity of our work, as well as our vision of our industry:

May 7 – 3:15pm

France-based VFX studio The Yard will be presenting its work on "The Rings of Power - Season 2" at FMX 2025 during an exclusive presentation hosted by Fabian Nowak, Head of FX.

AWAKENING THE ELEMENTS – FX Simulations Deep Under The Mountains And Above

Fabian Nowak, Head of FX, will be hosting a thorough presentation of the different types of effect simulations achieved to bring to life the gigantic caves of Khazam-dûm and the phenomenal blast of Forodwaith. Art-directed destructions, waterfalls & rivers, dust & debris, flames, atmospherics, crowd and cloth, we will walk through various types of Houdini setups – from fairly procedural to completely bespoke.

Laurens Ehrmann, founder and Senior VFX Supervisor at France-based VFX Studio The Yard, will participate in a roundtable organized by World VFX Day at FMX 2025, during which he will discuss global perspectives on the visual effects industry.

Global Perspectives on the Visual Effects Industry

Laurens Ehrmann, founder and Senior VFX Supervisor, will join a distinguished panel of VFX professionals from around the globe to discuss how local policies, global trends, and technological shifts are shaping the VFX industry today. Expect an insightful conversation moderated by Hayley Miller, founder of World VFX Day, on everything from emerging talent pipelines to the future of AI in creative production.
