Visual Effects Society reveals nominees for 24th Annual VES Awards. We are delighted to see Stranger Things 5 nominated in four categories !
The Visual Effects Society (VES), the VFX industry’s professional global honorary society, has announced the nominees for its 24th Annual VES Awards, encompassing 25 categories across film, television, animation, special venue projects, technological innovation, student projects, and more. Recognized as the visual effects industry’s marquee awards celebration, the VES Awards honor outstanding artistry and innovation while spotlighting the VFX Supervisors, Producers, and Artists who bring these groundbreaking creations to life.
Nominees were selected by VES members worldwide during the Society’s Global Nomination Event, which featured 46 in-person and 14 virtual judging panels. The 60 peer-led panels convened across seven global regions—Asia, Europe, India, Oceania, and three regions in North America—reflecting the Society’s expansive global reach and engagement.
At The Yard VFX, we are particularly happy to see that episodic leaders include Netflix’s Stranger Things 5, which earned four nominations:
- Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode for “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up”
- Outstanding Character in an Episodic Project for the Mindflyer in “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up”
- Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Episode for the Assault on the Mindflayer in “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up”
- Outstanding Compositing & Lighting in an Episode for The Abyss and Vecna’s Face in “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up”
