From FMX in Stuttgart to masterclasses in VFX schools, from Montpellier in the south of France to northern Sweden, The Yard has been proudly out in the field during this first half of the year—sharing knowledge, supporting emerging talent, and deepening our connections with peers across the global VFX industry.
Over the past semester, we’ve had the privilege of participating in an exciting range of events, conferences, and educational initiatives. As we reflect on this journey, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the organizers, institutions, and everyone who welcomed us along the way and who showed their interest in our craft, expertise and vision.
Celebrating and Supporting Community: VFX Gatherings & Industry Meetups
We believe in the power of community. That’s why we’ve made it a point to show up and support industry gatherings—whether to celebrate creativity, discuss challenges, or simply reconnect. From the César & Techniques 2025 ceremony to community-driven events like the UK Screen Alliance party, the London VFX Community Event—providing support and resources for VFX professionals in needs , VES Germany and France meetups, and the vibrant Televisual Village Fête in London, we’ve been thrilled to meet new faces and old friends, exchanging ideas and perspectives in a collaborative spirit.
Industry Events & Conferences: Sharing Insights, Learning Together
We’re also proud to contribute to the broader industry dialogue by participating in leading and first editions of conferences and festivals. Since the beginning of the year, The Yard took part in PIDS Enghien, the inaugural Paris Houdini HUG, and returned to FMX in Stuttgart. Laurens Ehrmann, founder and Senior VFX Supervisor, also participated in professional roundtable discussions at Cannes Film Festival and the first Satis+ event in Montpellier. These moments are not just opportunities to present our work—they’re chances to share ideas, learn, evolve, and push our craft and vision forward.
Supporting the Next Generation: VFX Education & Talent Development
Nurturing emerging talent is at the heart of what we do. We’ve continued to collaborate with VFX schools through masterclasses and workshops at ArtFX Montpellier and Lille, and by welcoming students into our studios for real-world insights and hands-on experiences. We’ve also been honored to participate in end-of-year juries at Creative Seeds in Rennes, LTU in Skellefteå (Sweden), New3dge in Paris, and ArtFX Montpellier. These interactions are a two-way street—we’re constantly inspired by the creativity and passion of the next generation of VFX artists.
Engaging with Institutions & Organizations
To help shape a strong and sustainable future for our industry, we’ve also engaged in dialogue with key institutions. From our membership in UK Screen Alliance to participating in the London Film roundtable breakfast and hosting institutional visits in Montpellier, we’re committed to contributing to industry-wide conversations that matter.
