Halo – Season 2: Building Worlds Beyond Imagination
In his session, Harry Bardak offered a deep dive into how The Yard brought the universe of Halo to life, from the hidden Forerunner City to the awe-inspiring Halo Ring itself.
The team delivered over 380 high-quality VFX shots across the season’s eight episodes, working closely with overall VFX Supervisor Wojciech Zielinski. The challenge was to seamlessly integrate CGI environments while staying true to the iconic visual style beloved by fans of the franchise.

The Rings of Power – Season 2: A Dramatic Shift in Middle-earth
Laurens Ehrmann, founder and creative director of The Yard, presented the studio’s work on the second season of The Rings of Power, which earned him a 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie.
The Yard teams handled nearly 250 shots, including 11 fully CG sequences, with one of the most complex being the opening explosion sequence that radically transforms Middle-earth.
In his session, Laurens Ehrmann unveiled in details the behind-the-scene work for this scene, which required over 50 iterations to perfect, blending physically accurate FX with artistic vision to create an unforgettable, ominous moment of destruction.
