French trade publication Ecran Total has spotlighted The Yard VFX as part of a special report on the companies which evolved in the recent years and brought key contributions to France’s audiovisual ecosystem. The feature recognizes the studio’s transformation from an independent creative boutique into a structured international partner capable of delivering world-class visual effects for major productions.
In a recent article, French trade media Ecran Total reported that visual effects industry is is evolving at an unprecedented pace. As productions become increasingly global and technically demanding, actors in the French creative industry must combine artistic excellence with operational maturity, scalability and long-term resilience.
This transformation is at the heart of The Yard VFX’s journey.
Founded in 2014, The Yard has grown from an independent creative studio into a trusted partner for major international film and television productions. Over the past few years, this growth has enabled us to contribute to globally recognized franchises, including Marvel, John Wick, Indiana Jones and Ford v Ferrari (Le Mans ’66).
While creative excellence remains The Yard’s foundation, sustainable growth requires much more than talent alone.
Scaling Beyond Creativity
Rapid expansion presents opportunities—but also significant challenges.
As our teams expanded and productions became increasingly complex, we recognized the importance of strengthening every aspect of our organization: governance, production management, operational processes and long-term strategic planning.
Rather than focusing solely on growth, our objective has been to build a studio capable of supporting the highest international standards while maintaining the agility and collaborative culture that define The Yard.
Investing in Long-Term Structure
Our participation in the Accélérateur Cinéma, Audiovisuel & Image Animée, led by Bpifrance and the CNC, has supported The Yard’s evolution.
The program encouraged us to formalize our management practices, refine our long-term vision and strengthen the foundations that will support future expansion.
For founder Laurens Ehrmann, whose background is rooted in visual effects rather than business management, the experience also reinforced an important idea: creative companies can achieve sustainable growth by combining artistic leadership with robust organizational structure.
Growing The Yard’s presence
As The Yard’s projects have expanded internationally, so has the studio’s footprint.
Today, The Yard operates from Paris and Montpellier in France, complemented by a London office that allows us to work even more closely with international productions. This multi-site organization enables The Yard to attract outstanding talent, increase production capacity and remain highly responsive to the needs of clients around the world.
The journey continues—and we’re excited for what comes next.
