The latest CNC report confirms the enduring appeal of « Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny » in France. The film has topped DVD and Blu-ray sales while also securing a strong position in VOD rankings.
The French National Centre of Cinema (CNC) has recently published its latest Video-On-Demand report (Observatoire de la Vidéo à la Demande), which reveals very positive results. The video market rebounded with a 13.4% growth in 2024, driven by transactional video-on-demand (TVOD), now accounting for 83.8% of the total market.
The report also highlights that France’s market dynamics have been shifting in 2024 with the arrival of Max, new content acquisitions, new partnerships between streamers and DTV players, ad-supported subscriptions, and evolving pricing strategies. While platforms like Netflix and Prime Video continue to expand, cinema remains a key driver of video sales, with French productions gaining traction.
Beyond the positive results reported, our team at The Yard is thrilled to see Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny achieving remarkable sucess in the French video market. The film has secured a spot in the top 10 most-watched films on VOD, thanks to its availabily on MyCanal and Prime Video. This follows its immense theatrical success in France, which we previoulsy shared in our article on its box office performance.
Additionally, despite the continued decline of physical video formats, the film has dominated this market in France between January and September 2024, confirming its sucessful launch in this format. Representing 1.3% of total physical sales, it illustrates the strong preference of the French audience for owning this film physically on the long run.
Our team is incredibly proud to have been the only French VFX studio to contribute to this film, working on 110 VFX shots, and to see fellow French audiences embrace it so enthusiastically. France definitely loves Indiana Jones, and we are so glad to be part of this adventure.
