Welcome to The Yard ! John SYB paid a visit to The Yard in Paris and met with Laurens Ehrmann, Founder and Creative Director, to discuss the studio’s growth and its international collaborations.
How does a French visual effects studio contribute to some of the world’s biggest film and television franchises ?
The Yard recently opened its door to John SYB, a VFX content creator, who sat down with Laurens Ehrmann, Founder and Creative Director of The Yard, during a visit to the studio’s Vanves location, just outside Paris. The conversation explores the studio’s evolution, its collaborative model across multiple locations, and some of the high-profile projects that the studio contributed to.
The Yard has grown into a multi-site creative network, with additional studios in Montpellier, and more recently London. All the locations are designed to operate as one interconnected production environment. Together, these studios represent a capacity of 280 workstations, enabling The Yard to collaborate efficiently on large-scale international productions, whether feature films or global streaming series.
During the visit, Laurens Ehrmann looked back at a pivotal moment in the studio’s journey : its contribution to Ford v Ferrari, which played a catalytic role in The Yard’s international development, helping the studio establish its reputation with major filmmakers and studios worldwide. Since then, the studio collaborated to projects such as The Rings of Power – Season 2, John Wick 4, Halo Season 2, and the last season of Stranger Things, and its work received a number of accolades. John SYB noted the Emmy Awards nomination in 2025 for The Rings of Power – Season 2 and the four Genie Awards earned in 2026 for Stranger Things 5, Etoile and Predator : Badlands.

During the interview, Laurens Ehrmann commented that Predator : Badlands marked a major milestone as it was the first time The Yard tackled the creation of creatures and characters at this scale. The project presented a significant technical and artistic challenge, pushing the studio into new territory while expanding its creative capabilities.
The interview offers a rare behind-the-scenes perspective on how a modern VFX studio operates, grows, and adapts within the rapidly evolving world of global film and television production. Watch the full interview with Laurens Ehrmann below:
